Backcountry skiing and snowboarding from the Sherwins trailhead offers easy access to powder tree skiing along north-facing slopes. Beginning at the Sherwins trailhead offers convenient access for early morning laps or a full day adventure skiing to the top of the Sherwin ridge. Having access to an area like this is what makes living in Mammoth Lakes so special. The Sherwins area is in high-consequence avalanche terrain; bring appropriate gear and check with the Eastern Sierra Avalanche Center before you go.
