  • The 1.5-mile Sotcher Lake Loop nature trail is a popular introduction to the flora, fauna and geology of the Upper San Joaquin Valley. Catch the Reds Meadow Shuttle at the Adventure Center at Main Lodge. After switchbacking down into the valley, get off the bus at Sotcher Lake Stop #7. Heading around the lake counter-clockwise, there's a brief climb and descent before you cross the lake's inlet on the south end. The rest is flat and easy with good views and beach stops along the way. Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra does this hike as part of their trail clean-up days.
