The road and parking area at Shady Rest Park are plowed throughout the winter as a staging area and trailhead for Snowmobilers and cross-country skiers, providing acres of open space for safe and simple snow play, especially with younger kids. The area is basically flat, which offers nearly limitless terrain for building snow people and forts with easy access to town.
Avalanche Forecast for 12/02/2023
- AVALANCHE FORECAST: Isolated wind-protected slopes at upper elevations have enough continuous coverage for avalanche formation. If venturing into those areas be on the lookout for stiff wind-deposited snow sitting on top of weak sugary snow. Keep in mind that even a small slide could be more dangerous than usual with early-season obstacles in the runout. Find out More
